Located less than 10 miles north of Southport, NC, Boiling Spring Lakes is centered around the 2.5 mile long Boiling Springs Lake.  The lake, with 10 miles of shoreline,  is fed by five different springs and Allen Creek.  The largest spring is, of course, known as Boiling Spring and pumps out an estimated 43 million gallons of water every day!   Incorporated in 1961 and originally developed by Reeves Telecom, the 16,000 acres that make up Boiling Spring Lakes encompass almost 50 other lakes as well as an 18-hole golf course known as ‘The Lakes’.

 

If you love golf, there are literally dozens of golf courses within a 45-minute drive of BSL including The Lakes , the Founder’s Club, The Players Club and The Member’s Club at St. James,  Carolina National in Winding River Plantation,  Lions Paw and Panther Run at Ocean Ridge and countless others.  If that’s not enough to sate your appetite, the golf capital of the world, Myrtle Beach SC is less than an hour’s drive south on Hwy 17.

 

If you love the water, you’ll love it here. The Big Lake in BSL offers room for both power and sail boats. The beaches of Caswell Beach and Oak Island are 15 minutes away while the other Brunswick Islands beaches of Holden Beach, Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach are less than 45 minutes away.  Just a few minutes away, Southport is located at the mouth of the Cape Fear River where it is met by the Intra-Coastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean so boating opportunities are limitless.
